From Fulbeck Hall, Lincolnshire, England, home of the noble Fane family. Gilt brass, the arms with high relief decoration of roses, shamrock, and thistle (England, Ireland and Scotland). Disk rowels. Iron heel spikes which locked into the boot heel of the rider. Made by noted London bootmaker Maxwell (185 Piccadilly) and so marked on the shank of one. The surface gilt lost to wear and now with good patina. Minor differences but kept and worn as a pair.
